Our Experts:
Dr. Carol Trakimas is a board certified Dermatologist and medical professional who has over fifteen years post-graduate experience in the arena of dermatologic rejuvenation and aesthetic dermatology. She helped found the Skin Enhancement Center, in Pinehurst NC where she was Medical Director before starting her own practice, The Dermatology Center of Raleigh P.A. Dr. Trakimas is directly involved in all cosmetic cases and performs all procedures herself.

Medical issues are priority one. Any medical issue effecting the skin should be treated and stabilized before embarking on any kind of aesthetic skin treatment.
Safety comes first. Anyone considering any kind of laser/light based cosmetic skin treatment should first have the treatment area checked for any skin malignancies or pre-cancers.
Do no harm. Improving upon an otherwise normal healthy state demands that no harm be done, thus only highly experienced, qualified, and trained personnel should be performing procedures. At The Dermatology Center of Raleigh, Dr. Trakimas performs all laser procedures herself.
Establish realistic expectations. Although modern medicine can now address many cosmetic issues, there are no magic treatments. Most treatments take time, need to be repeated, used in combinations, or coupled with prevention and skincare for optimal results. We encourage our aesthetic patients to schedule a cosmetic consultation with us before their treatment.
Practice within our expertise. We routinely refer our cosmetic patients to other leading medical professionals in our area for procedures that are outside our expertise or where optimal treatment is with technology and expertise that we do not have.
