Our Policies

Financial Policy:

Payment for services is required at the time of your visit. We accept Visa, MasterCard, personal checks and cash. Any questions or concerns regarding our fees can be addressed by our front desk staff or practice manager.

Payment Plans: CareCredit for Cosmetic Procedures

We’re pleased to offer our patients the CareCredit card, North America's leading patient payment program. Cosmetic Procedures:

Cosmetic services (Laser surgery, Botox, fillers, dermabrations, chemical peels, etc.) are offered by appointment only and a credit card number & 50% deposit will be required to hold your appointment. Please see our front desk staff or practice manager for more information on this policy.

Insurance:

Please inform our office immediately of any changes in your insurance coverage.

HMO, PPO, Other Group Insurance Plans:

We will file claims for all health insurance plans that have contracted with our office. At the time of your visit we will require copayment, payment for non-covered services and any percent responsibility you have under your particular health plan. The total cost of the visit will be expected at the time of service in instances where an individual is either uninsured or participating with a health plan not contracted with our office. We will gladly provide you with the necessary information to file a claim with un-contracted health insurance plans. Please note that most insurance plans require separate approval for consultations and procedures. We will be happy to assist you in this process, but it is ultimately the responsibility of the patient to ensure that your plan has approved any consultations or procedures performed in our office.

Medicare:

We will file with Medicare for you and receive 80% of the approved amount directly from Medicare. You will be responsible for the remaining 20% at the time of service. We will provide you receipt to attach to the explanation you receive from medicare to mail your secondary insurance for direct reimbursement. You will be expected to pay, at the time of service, any unmet deductible, and any non-covered services (see below).

The Federal Medicare program, administered through the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), will not cover many services they consider medically unnecessary or inappropriate. Please be advised that you will be responsible for all fees related to these services. We will attempt to advise you in advance if Medicare will not cover a particular service. Please note that supplemental or secondary insurance to Medicare will not cover services denied by Medicare. We strongly recommend checking with your insurance carrier prior to treatment if you are concerned about these issues.

Children:

The AIHF Youth Activity Center offers patients free child care during their appointment. Infants 8 weeks to 18 months are limited to one and one-half hours. Children 19 months and older are limited to two hours. Children will have an array of toys and games to choose from.

Center hours are as follows:

  • Monday - Saturday 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
  • Monday - Thursday 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm
  • Sunday 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

It is our preference that small children not be left unattended in the waiting area.

Parking:

Parking is conveniently located both in front of and directly adjacent to the AIHF facility. The Dermatology Center of Raleigh may be accessed via the second floor of the covered parking deck.

Smoking:

The entire facility and grounds of the AIHF are designated a smoke-free environment.

General Cancellations:

A $75.00 cancellation fee will be assessed on all missed appointments or cancellations within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment.

Cancellation of Cosmetic Procedures:

A cancellation fee of 50% of the procedure fee will be charged for missed appointments that are not rescheduled within two business days notice.

Adverse Reactions After Hours:

Please call 911 in the event of any life threatening medical emergency.

Prescriptions:

Refill prescriptions may be honored under careful and prudent rules to assist established patients with relief of conditions until they are able to see the health care provider. For prescription refills please call our office during regular business hours. Prescription refills can also be left on the Rx mailbox which is voicemail # 250. Request for refills of prescriptions for pharmaceuticals will be granted under the following guidelines:

  1. An appointment must be made for the patient to see the health care provider when the patient is requesting refills for the following medications. Absolutely no refills without a new evaluation will be given :
    1. Accutane
    2. Oral steroids
    3. Antibiotic prescriptions after one year
  2. One refill can be given for a problem for which the patient has seen the health care provider in the last 6 – 12 months. (Patient must be advised that no further refills will be given unless seen by the health care provider.)
  3. Absolutely NO REFILL REQUESTS will be honored if patient has not seen health care provider in the last 12 months.
